The Real Cost of Doing It Yourself

You Didn't Start a Credit Repair Business
to Spend 8 Hours Filing Forms.

Here's what no one talks about: the most time-consuming part of credit repair isn't the strategy. It's the admin. And every hour you spend clicking through CFPB forms is an hour you're not closing clients, not growing your business, not doing what you're actually good at.

8hrs+

Per Identity Theft Case

One client. 3 bureaus. Up to 25 creditors. That's 28 separate CFPB complaint forms — each needing custom dates, company names, complaint text, and resolution language. Manually. One at a time.

$400

In Time You'll Never Get Back

If your time is worth $50/hr (conservative for a business owner), one identity theft case costs you $400+ in labor. You charge $500–$1,500 for the case. That's most of your margin gone — doing work a computer should handle.

New Clients Acquired That Day

While you're filing CFPB forms for 8 hours, you're not making sales calls. You're not following up on leads. You're not posting content. You're not doing anything that actually grows your business. That's the invisible cost nobody calculates.

Why It Actually Works

CFPB Complaints Are Not Regular Dispute Letters

Most credit repair businesses send dispute letters directly to the bureaus. That's the baseline — and bureaus know they can stall, rubber-stamp a "verified" response, or simply ignore a letter with zero consequences.

A CFPB complaint is different. It goes to a federal regulator with enforcement power. The bureau isn't just replying to your client — they're responding to the government on a public record that can be used in litigation.

Companies that drag their feet on dispute letters respond within 15 days when a CFPB complaint is filed. Every time. Because the alternative is regulatory scrutiny no company wants.

What Happens Step by Step
Step 01 — Filing

Complaint Submitted to CFPB

We file through the official CFPB portal. It's immediately logged, assigned a tracking number, and forwarded to the named company. This creates a federal record tied to your client's case.

Step 02 — Company Response

Company Has 15 Days to Respond

Unlike a dispute letter, the company must respond to the CFPB — not just your client. Ignoring it risks regulatory scrutiny. Most companies remove legitimate errors rather than defend fraud on federal record.

Step 03 — Bureau Action

Bureaus Remove or Verify

When the complaint targets a bureau, they must investigate every listed item. With an FTC Identity Theft Report attached, bureaus are legally required under §605B to block fraudulent info within 4 business days.

Step 04 — Results

Your Client Sees the Change

Removed items no longer appear on the report. Inquiry counts drop. Collections disappear. Your client's score improves — and you delivered the result under your brand name.

605B Identity Theft Block Letter Generator

What is a 605B Letter?

Section 605B is a specific law inside the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) that gives identity theft victims a direct right to block fraudulent information from their credit report — separate from a regular dispute. When your client sends this letter to a bureau with their FTC Identity Theft Report attached, the bureau is legally required to block every listed item within 4 business days. No investigation. No back-and-forth. Just removal.

When Do You Need It?
  • 🔁
After a CFPB complaint comes back "verified" — the bureau says the item is legitimate but your client has an FTC report proving identity theft. The 605B overrides that verification.
  • When you need faster results — CFPB complaints take up to 15 days. A properly filed 605B letter triggers a mandatory 4-business-day block. Use both together for maximum pressure.
  • 🧱
When multiple rounds haven't worked — if a bureau keeps re-inserting a fraudulent account after removal, a 605B letter with an FTC report creates a permanent legal block they must honor.
  • 📬
As a first strike on clear-cut fraud — if your client has an FTC report and the accounts are obviously fraudulent (auto dealer inquiries they never authorized, debts they never incurred), start with both simultaneously.
💡

Best practice: File the CFPB complaint AND mail the 605B letter at the same time. The CFPB complaint hits the regulator level. The 605B hits the bureau directly. Two legal mechanisms, one case. Use the generator below to create the letter in seconds.

FAQ

Common Questions

How fast will complaints be filed?
Cases submitted before 4pm EST are filed same day. After 4pm, filed by 10am the next business day. You receive all confirmation numbers as each complaint is submitted — not at the end.
Do you ever contact my client directly?
Never. We are strictly your back-end subcontractor. Everything goes to you — you deliver results to your client under your own brand. We are 100% invisible to them.
What format do I need to send the credit report in?
You don't need to send the PDF. Just list the disputed items in the intake form — company name, date of inquiry or account, which bureaus it appears on, and the amount if applicable. We work from the structured list.
What's the difference between Bureau Package and Full Package?
Bureau Package files 3 complaints — one per bureau. Full Package adds up to 25 individual complaints against each specific lender or creditor, applying FCRA Section 604 pressure directly on each company. For identity theft cases we always recommend the Full Package.
What if a complaint comes back verified?
First-round filings resolve the majority of legitimate disputes. If an item survives, we provide escalation guidance and can file round-two complaints referencing the first IDs. Retainer clients get escalation included. Per-case clients can add it as a flat-fee add-on.
What is a 605B letter and when should I use it?
Section 605B of the FCRA gives identity theft victims the right to block fraudulent information directly. When submitted to a bureau with a valid FTC Identity Theft Report, the bureau must block the items within 4 business days — faster than a CFPB complaint in some cases. Use both together for maximum pressure. Our free generator tool above creates ready-to-mail letters instantly.
Is this legal for my credit repair business?
Yes. CFPB filing is a federally protected consumer right. You are subcontracting the filing process — the same way you'd outsource bookkeeping. You remain responsible for having written authorization from your client, which CROA requires regardless of who files.
